Hello there is our pictures when we visited our brethren in Little Baguio, Davao Del Sur. The only transportation is motorbike or horses. One bike can carry four (4) up to Six (6) Person.  Bro Jing,  bro  Lito (driver) bro Tony  and me. It’s enjoyable serving the Lord, lots of exiting experience.   We started moving at 7AM and we arrive in the area about 945AM.

Davao Del Sur Explored by the Spaniard in 1528, they found muslim tribal group to be the early settlers. Another tribal group called “Bagobos” began to occupy the northern part in 19th century. It was only in 1914 when during the American regime that the whole of Davao was organized. At present time the tribe of Huligaynons are the main inhabitants of Davao Del Sur who migrated from Visayas. The principal products are coconut, sugarcane, and banana. They can plant Rice and corn in season.

They requested me to conduct VBS in this area this coming May 12-16 and they expected many young people’s from different tribes to attend. I will bring my younger brother Arsenio with me in this occasion. There are two young people who want to come with us but the transportation is expensive (by plane and by bus and finally motorbike in going to the area). If you have some extra money please shares with me because I want to buy the slippers for the young ones. One pair is about 1.5 dollars and second hand clothes also. Need also about 50 Tagalog bibles, one bible is 9 dollars. My computation I need $1000 dollars for this trip.

$400 round trip by plane (for Arsenio and me)

$100 for bus and motor bike round trip

$500 share for food  5 days (for about 100 attendance) brethren in the area will share also rice, vegetables and fruits.  I pray you can help our  activities here in our country. Thank you for your sharing and love.

  • Simple focus in Christ

In my country many churches are doing their best to make their service pleasant in the eyes of men. And it is sad to note that even our owned family are tempting to do the same, the scriptures reveals us the failure of Israel when they want to live "like other nation". They want to imitate those programs to increase their numbers, growth in people and finances. I told our brethren that churches that have numerous array of programs to serve every style, taste, and need have "transplant members" because it is program centered, NOT scriptural centered.

The mission of God remains the same (He is the Alpha and Omega) we have no business in changing or adding it. In order to move people more effectively from salvation, to spiritual maturity, to meaningful ministry, there must be a commitment to consistent focus, which involves abandoning everything that falls outside of the process. This means both eliminating and not adding programs that do not fit into the process. They are extra weight that bogs us down and can break our focus, let us get rid the things that slow us down.

Col 1:5-6 - Gospel is bearing fruit in the world and increasing; the "fruit of the Gospel is to redeemed, transforming, and changed people. In order to bear fruit, we MUST abide in Christ (John 15). But like so many things, it can demand our  time, attention, and affections; Can be a lot of activities, but it can be fruitless, Can these activities contribute toward the mission and the process? other such things had the potential of becoming thorns and weeds that take away the fruit.

I believe that Churches genuine growth were all simple, commonly understood the purpose and process for spiritual growth. We must say NO to many ideas and activities built around the simple process. Purpose and process already there  (read our bible) and let us keep it simple.

Sometimes we need to slow down and take a good look at things, God hasn't made it complicated.

We need to spend considerable time in prayer as we move forward, and Let us medidate the passage at Eph 5:15-17.

Please continue pray for us here in the Philippines as we do the same to all of you. This is my "sermon" to the churches that invited me. They are trying to manipulate the process to look their service fancy, popular and splendid. May the Lord of Host forgive us!

  • Jesus saves!

DSCF3874 Brother Arsenio Wanasen and Boy Mallari joined me in my Evangelistic work in Mindoro. This is very interesting because these native called "mangyan" in my country responded to the gospel. I can't understand their own local language but we can communicate in our national language "tagalog".

  • Let Jesus come into our boat

The bible proven itself as the only totally dependable source for the truth about causes and cures for our personal needs and problems, not only increase our knowledge but to change our lives.

An important point that we need to realize that God is interested in our success not in seeing our failure. Let us read Apostle Peter reaction when he allow Jesus into his boat.

In my humbly understanding Peter is teaching us four (4) valuable principles that we need to consider.

    I. LET US GET GOD'S PRESENCE INTO OUR LIFE (Luke 5:3)

                a) Peter allowed Jesus to use his boat to preach the gospel. Peter's boat represented his livelihood and his boat was his business

                b) When Peter let Jesus into his job, "great things" began to happen. God will bless whatever we give to Him wholeheartedly, if we give Him just part of our life, He'll bless us just one part.

    2. We can't limit what God can do until we allow Him all the way in!

                a) Our job, life, finances and needs won't be blessed until God's is in our boat (Haggai 1:4-10)

                b) Peter used his boat for Christ purposes. There are peopel in our job, in the school where we are in, friends, relatives and neighboors. God wants to reach out through you and me.(Mark 2:4)

                c) Jesus took care of Peter's need, He loaded him up with plenty of fishes, He promise that IF we seek FIRST His kingdom and righteousness, all other things will be added.

                d) Let us put Jesus presence all the way in our boat and He will bless us all the way. He'll help us to recover from our failure.

II. COOPERATE WITH GOD'S PLAN (Luke 5:4)

    1. If we rely on our own abilities, knowleges and strength we will always fail.

                a) After they failed their own labor (cathing nothing), they now fished under the direction of Jesus. They obediently followed His intruction. Jesus told them WHERE to fish, WHEN to fish and HOW to fish.

                b) When God is guiding our life, we cannot fail. If at first we don't succeed, try it in God's way!

III. EXPECT GOD TO PRODUCE (Luke 5:5)

    1.  Peter never ARGUE with the Lord, although he is a professional fisherman

    2. He didn't QUESTION the Lord (Lord, are you sure we down our net here?)

    3. He didn't HESITATE (perhaps Peter is doubting but he obey)

    4. Peter never listen to his FEELINGS (he was tired from fishing all night)

"NEVERTHELESS AT THY WORD I WILL LET DOWN THE NET"

Look at the result in obeying His word (Luke 5:6)

    1. When God produces, the result will be redicolously amazing!

IV. LET US SHARE OUR BLESSING (Luke 5:7)

    1. Great way of living is sharing, "it is blessed to give than to recieve", God wants to bless other people through us.

"GOD WANTED US TO CATCH MEN........NOT ONLY FISH"

Thank you brethren in our partnership in His vineyard, let us bring more souls in His kingdom. Your prayer, love and support help us a lots in the Philippines.

  • I am not depressed!

With all events happened to me, my wife and the brethren in the Philippines, God still good and He provide everything, just "be still and be silent", He is in control, He help me to remain in good shape.

Here are some guidelines to combat depression during my lesson in Ottawa Congregation.

    a) Take care of our Physical needs (1 King 19:5-8)

My Lord said when you depress, have a good rest, eat good food, relax and do some exercise because good health profound influence on our moods.

    b) Give our frustration to God (v9-10)

1 Pet 5:7 " casting all your care (frustration/depression) upon Him, for He careth for us"

It is also help to share our our burdens with one another trusted individual (James 5:16)

    c) Listen to God's voice (v11-12)

God will met us in a quiet whisper (Psalm 37:7). Get alone with God, talk to your wife and children (they are good shock absorber), go to a place where you can relax and meditate with the Lord, be still and listen.

    d) Get a new direction for your life (v15)

Stop sitting and make self pity and get your eyes off yourself and on to serving others. Don't allowed ourselves to be manipulated by our emotions. We dont get in touch with our feelings, get in touch with truth. The ultimate truth is Jesus (John 8:32; 14:6 & 17:17). If we harassed, helpless, troubled and depress go to Jesus (Matt 11:28-30).

    God bless us all!
